Retired

Best wishes to Councillor Jim Casey, Fianna Fail who has retired form politics. Jim represented the Cloughjordan area on the County Council since he was first elected in 1985. Jim was the main driving force behind the recently opened Thomas MacDonagh Centre in Cloughjordan and it was very fitting that the centre was opened during his last term on the council.

The Kennedy Clan

Brian Patrick Kennedy from Queensland Australia visited the Thomas MacDonagh Heritage Centre in Cloughjordan last week. Brian is the leading authority on the history of the Kennedy Clan and has written three books on this topic. He presented and autographed a copy of each book to the centre. The books are on display in the centre. Brian’s own ancestors emigrated from the Kilcommon area of Tipperary to Australia in 1863. Brian was very interested in the Canon Ball from the Kennedy Castle at Ballycapple, Cloughjordan which is on display at the Heritage Centre.
