On Friday night the people of Rosegreen gathered to honour Mr John Lalor, who retired on August 31st 2013 having spent 22 years as a teaching principal in Rosegreen National School.
In what was a wonderful night of celebration beginning with Mass in the church and continuing afterwards in the Community Hall. Fr Jim Purcell acted as MC for the night. Among the many credits attributed to John during his tenure was the introduction and nurturing of music, it was therefore only fitting that music and song provided by the pupils should feature so prominently in the celebration. Speaker after speaker spoke highly of John’s contributions to the school and the community over the years.
School Principal Maura Molony spoke of John’s true professionalism, always having the care and concern of the child at heart. She noted that John had been a fair, understanding and loyal Principal who encouraged each staff member in their own area of expertise and this led to the building of an effective team.
