Rabbits are eating the flowers off graves in one of Nenagh’s graveyards. Ironically, the cemetery in question is at Lisbunny. Cllr Lalor McGee has asked town manager Marcus O’Connor if the Tidy Towns committee can buy 30 metres of wire mesh to try and keep the pests out.

“They are eating the flowers on graves,” he told Nenagh Town Council.

He was backed by Cllr Seamus Morris, who declared the cemetery was “over-run with rabbits”.

Meanwhile, Mr O’Connor revealed plans for a revamped and extended cemetery, which would include a columbarium where plaques could be erected to people who were cremated.

The extension will allow for an extra 1,500 plots as well as new parking arrangements for the bereaved, the removal of poplar trees on the boundary and a new entrance.
