Tidy Towns - Our Tidy Towns group are holding another clean-up on Saturday next, April 27th. Meet in the G.A.A. car park at 10am. South Tipp. County Council have provided free pooper scoopers. Please collect your supply from Bretts Hardware. Carry when walking your dog and scoop the poop. Please keep the streets of our village clean and join in the clean-up on Sat. next.
Black Spot - An amount of household litter including even broken children’s gear and toys has been dumped into the deep dykes and quarry on the back road in Ballydonnell. This black spot was previously cleaned up and now has been “rubbished” again. It is suspected that the perpetrators are now known.
Mohober N.S. - Congratulations to the Mohobber N.S. Quiz team of Letty Sharp, Ellen Fitzgerald, Martin Fitzgerald and Niall Fitzgerald who represented Callan Credit Union in the National finals of the Credit Union Quiz in the R.D.S. on Sunday, April 7th. The team finished in joint 7th place out of 50 teams. A brilliant effort. Well done to all involved. Mohober N..S is now accepting enrolments for the school year 2013/14. Kilvemnon N.S. - Our first “Split the Pot” draw on Monday, April 15th was a great success. Thanks to all who contributed. The total amount collected was €184. Congrats to our week one winner Claire Cummins Cawley. Get Fit Stay Fit - Fab Fitness classes continue each Monday morning at 9.30 am in the Community Centre or in Ballingarry Hall on Thursday nights at 7.30 pm. Contact Biddy on (087) 6410352. Deaths - Sympathy to Simon McGowan, Kilvemnon on the deaths in recent times of his mother, his aunt and uncle. Condolences also to Cathy Cummins (nee Williams), Rossane on the death in Tuam of her sister Ann Donoghue (nee Williams) on April 11th. Sympathy to Billy, Martin and Jim her brothers and to her sisters Mary, Rita and Cathy. Condolences also to Ann’s husband Ned and her sons Darren and Jason.
Still Searching - In the parish newsletter last week was published a G.A.A. photo from 1960. It features a 7 aside winning team in Coolagh consisting of John Williams, Jimsy Kelly, Bill O’Dwyer, Peter Galligan, Mick Daly, Paddy O’Brien and Billy Gahan. The G.A.A. history committee is still searching for help in any shape or form.
