Gerry Lyons is a coach with Templemore AC since 1990 and our club want to thank him for being such a inspiring role model for so many athletes at juvenile and senior level who had the incredible privilege of been coached by him.

Gerry Lyons is a coach with Templemore AC since 1990 and our club want to thank him for being such a inspiring role model for so many athletes at juvenile and senior level who had the incredible privilege of been coached by him.

Gerry has served our club with great pride, dignity and loyalty throughout his career. As a coach he specialised in several different events high jump, long jump, triple jump, hurdles and 400m sprints and always looking for perfection in his athletes. Gerry coached many athletes to national and international standard one or two great names that come to mind Alan Dunford under Gerry’s guidance over 15 years at 100m and 200m reached international standard to compete for Ireland in Europa cup in Iceland 2004 were he ran a club record of 10.64. In 1996/97/98/99 Templemore AC won gold at all Ireland senior level relay 4/100m all athletes coached by him. Shane Long was another athlete, soccer international player that was coached by Gerry at long jump and triple jump. The Ryan family (Moycarkey AC) new upcoming athletes in Ireland at juvenile level and has smashed many records at track and field Daniel Ryan, and our own Simon Archer took silver medal at junior level in 2013. So thanks to you Gerry for all you have done. You have been engaged in so many life’s from athletes, coaches, family and friends, you have given a voluntary service beyond the clubs expectations. More than a coach, a great mentor, friend, inspiration and leader.
