On this Friday evening, February 15th the doors of the Templemore Arms function room, the Cube nightclub and a specially erected marquee will open to allow 1200 very inquisitive boxing spectators into a specially prepared arena where 30 amateur boxers including 6 females ill all be hoping to give professional performances when representing the JK Brackens and Loughmore-Castleiney clubs in a white collar boxing show. The many ring craft skills that they have been practicing night, noon and morning for the past 6 weeks will be tested to the limits!

Music is magic, skiing is a very tricky exercise, ventriloquists deceive the eye doing Houdini acts such as pulling rabbits from hats and dancing on ice is very graceful. All great entertainment but none to be compared with the crème de la crème of the action in store in the Arms on Friday evening!

Few venues can get you as close to the action as the Arms, as close as one can get to a ringside view for all in attendance. All who have had the privilege of seeing the efforts the boxers have been putting in in training plus the efforts the organisers are making to ensure the venue will be a theatre of dreams on Friday night are more than satisfied that

all in attendance will go home happy.

As for the boxers – in the middleweight section two very agile individuals who have been showing very determined efforts in their preparations are Kevin O’ Riordan and David McGrath who will give never-to-be-forgotten performances. No go-back in either of these guys! In the flyweight section Owen Butler and Kieran Kiely will be moving faster than the wind. The pace of this contest will have to be watched very closely to be sure which of them threw the last punch! In the welterweight section will be two individuals who will not hear of defeat. Their performances at training have been flat out from the very first moment to the final second of every session. Shane Scully has not been cutting any corners in his efforts to be properly edged up for battle with his equally enthusiastic opponent Derek Bourke. Both have all the necessary boxing attributes to give performances almost on a par with our Olympians in London!

A spokesperson for the 6 ladies involved has said all will enter the ring feeling the fittest, the leanest, the healthiest and the smartest boxers ever to appear in an amateur ring – a truly unique set of awesome contests expected here!

On sale on the night will be a specially designed colour souvenir programme containing much information on all the boxers involved. Numerous valuable prizes including boxing gloves signed by Katie Taylor, vouchers sponsored by the Templemore Arms, Larry Bourke TV and many others will be on offer for the lucky programme holders. All in attendance are asked to arrive before 8pm. Hope you enjoy the night of what is expected to be unequalled entertainment!
