Parents may end up footing the clean-up bill if their children are caught putting graffiti on walls around Nenagh. The call comes from Cllr Conor Delaney in a motion that will be discussed by Nenagh Town Council in September.

The FG councillor wants the council to introduce bylaws to tackle graffiti in public areas, and urges that if the perpetrators can be identified with certainty that they be made pay for the cost of having their work removed.

He further wants the parents or guardians of minors to be held personally responsible if their charges are found to have written the graffiti.

And he wants a bylaw that includes the possibility of legal proceedings in the district court if the clean-up cost is not paid.
