Late Mary (May) Doherty - The death occurred peacefully on 27th November of May Doherty, Birr and formerly Longorchard. She had reached the fine age of 96 but had been ailing for some time. Having completed her education she joined the staff of the Dept. of Foreign Affairs and served for many years in the Passport Office. Following her retirement she moved to Birr where she spent many happy years and in later times due to failing health became a resident of Bushy Park Nursing Home, Borrisokane.

She was a member of the family of five of the late Denis and Anne Doherty (nee Ryan). She was a loving and faithful sister, aunt and a devout Christian who was well prepared to meet the Almighty. The removal was from Bushy Park Nursing Home to the Church of the Sacred Heart, Templetuohy. Principal celebrant of her Concelebrated Requiem Mass was Fr. Pat Murphy P.P.; assisted by Fr. John O’Connell A.P.; Fr. Michael Kennedy, Birr and Waterford; Fr. J.J. Rogers A.P., Borrisokane. Templetuohy Choir as always provided a fine accompaniment to the ceremony. May’s mortal remains were laid in the family burial place at Templetuohy Cemetery. Members of the Legion of Mary of which May was a lifelong member recited the rosary at the graveside. Deepest sympathy to her brother Denis, U.K., sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a hanam.
