The Irish Girl Guides is a uniquely girl-only, youth driven, active and dynamic organisation. It offers a varied, modern and exciting programme for girls and young women from 5 years onwards, with a strong emphasis on the outdoors, environment, community responsibilities and team work. Through our programme, our members develop life skills, including teamwork, interpersonal skills, assertiveness, spiritual development and a social and environmental conscience.
Generally the units meet once a week during the school term. The meetings include a variety of activities and plenty of fun. Ladybirds are 5 -7 year olds. They learn to do their best, to grow in self-confidence and learn to care and share. Brownies are 6.5 – 11 years. They take part in a variety of activities which encourage self-development, teamwork, discovering the outdoors and enjoying new friendships. Guides are 10.5 - 15years. They are encouraged to try new fun activities, discover the outdoors, develop new skills, make new friends and most importantly to be themselves.
In Nenagh we have the Nenagh Brownie Guide unit. This unit is full at the moment and we have a waiting list for new members. All our units need a minimum of two or three adult volunteer leaders. In January we intend to open a guide unit. We would be delighted if you would consider volunteering with the Nenagh Girl Guides.
