10th Title in 20 Seasons - C.J. Kickhams G.A.A. Club finished off their 20th season in Senior hurling ranks in winning fashion on Sunday afternoon last in Clonmel Sportsfield. In the long delayed South final the local side defeated Carrick Davins by a 15 point margin 2-20 to 0-11, pulling away in the second half. For Mullinahone man Dick Egan the Chairman of the South Board it was a fine occasion as it was the second time in his three year term of office that he had the privilege of presenting the cup to a captain from his own club, in this case A.J. Cronin. Sunday last was our 10th title in 20 years. Ky Vaughan who was on the first Mullinahone team to win a Senior title in 1993 won his 10th South Tipp. Senior hurling medal on Sunday. (See match report). This win should help instil confidence in our U/21 hurlers and our Minors who play Kilsheelan Gaels in Carrick in the final on Saturday afternoon.
Thanks - The Irish Heart Foundation would like to thank the parishioners of Mullinahone for their generosity at the recent church gate collection which realised 735 euro. Many thanks to the collectors.
The Century That Shaped Us - Following the success last year of the “Our Own Place” series of local history lectures another series of such lectures has been planned for the coming Winter / Spring. Many thanks to all those residents who helped to raise the standard in our village in 2011.
