Sliocht Nuachta - Sarsfields Hurling Tournament (Tom Semple Cup). History was made in Semple Stadium on July 2nd when the inaugural Tom Semple Cup was competed for. Teams from London, Ireland, North and South, Wild Geese (United States servicemen based in England) were involved. After a feast of hurling, Kilburn Gaels emerged winners by the narrowest of margins. Kilburn Gaels personnel sound familiar, e.g. Eugene Hickey, President, Ballyporeen, Mick Bourke, Chairman, Clare, Tom Bergin, Manager, Moyne-Templetuohy, Brendan O’Connor, Selector, Clare and others such as Dessie Kennedy, Mick Dwyer, Senior and Junior, Borrisoleigh. Team members were originally from Burgess, J.K. Brackens, Upperchurch, Shannon Rovers, Killenaule, Holycross and St. Mary’s Clonmel. All in all our emigrants are making their mark for good in G.A.A. as in other areas. This involvement is replicated globally. Ar aghaidh le Tiobraid Arann agus Cumann Luth Cleas Gael.

Moyne Templetuohy Juvenile G.A.A. - U/14, The U/14 played their third match of the championship against Clonakenny in Clonakenny and won for the 3rd time in the championship with a score of 3-8 to 2-2. Their next match will be against Loughmore in Templetuohy on Thursday next, August 4th at 7.30 p.m. U/12, Both the U/12’s played their respective mid semi-finals on Saturday last, July 30th in Pairc Na nÓg. The 1st team (group 2) won their match well with a score of 2-05 to 1-03. The scores coming from Conor Bowe (1 goal & 2 points), Gearoid O’Connor (1 Goal & 3 points). They will now play Gortnahoe in the mid-final on Sunday next, August 7th. The 2nd team (Group 4) however did not succeed in their attempt at reaching a mid-final. The lost out to a better Moycarkey side on the day.

The panel for both U/12 teams was: Sean Hayes, Bill Hogan, Eoin Keyes, Darragh Taylor, Jack Taylor, Conor Bowe, Ben Ryan, Gearoid O’Connor, Damien Bermingham Jordan, Andrew Doyle, Nathan Bowe, Padraig Ryan, Martin Ryan, John O’Halloran, Shane Lowe, Conor Collier, Kieran Larkin, Diarmuid Collier, Dean Lawlor, Barry Ryan, Padraig Gleeson, James Dean Fogarty, Tony Lowe, Damien Gleeson and James McDonald. U/10 Training continues as usual this week.

U/8 Training this week will be on Saturday only in Moyne field at 10 a.m. due to the camp being on this week. U/6 Training continues on Fridays as usual.

Super Camp - Tipperary G.A.A. presents Super Camps 2011. This camp will take place in Dr. Morris Park on August 16th, 17th and 18th from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. In attendance will be Inter County Stars Paraic Maher, Seamus Callanan, Brendan Maher, Brian Fox, Christy Aylward and Tipperary Senior Hurling Trainer Cian O’Neill. Wedding Bells - Congratulations and best wishes to Martina, daughter of Seamus and Mary Butler, Templetuohy and Paul Young, Thurles who were married at the Church of the Sacred Heart, Templetuohy on July 28th.

Knock Pilgrimage - A bus will travel from the parish to Knock Shrine on this Sunday, August 7th leaving from Guilfoyles’ Templetuohy at 7 a.m. and Moyne School at 7.15 a.m.

Soccer Tournament - 14 teams will take part in the 7-a-side soccer tournament on this Sunday, 7th August at 12 noon. Participants are reminded that all games will be played in runners. It is expected that there will be a large turnout of spectators at Moyne Sportsfield to view the action with a strong rumour circulating that Alex Ferguson will have a scout watching. All proceeds will go towards the purchase of sports kits for the pupils of Scoil na Maighne. For further details please contact Martin Kiely at (087) 9262062.

Community Alert - A meeting will be held at Moyne Community Centre on Tuesday, 9th August to revitalise the Community Alert group in the area. The events of the last few months have surely demonstrated the need for such. A member of the Gardai will attend to explain what is involved. As this issue effects everybody it is hoped that as many householders as possible will attend. The meeting will commence at 9 p.m. sharp.

Sympathy - Deepest sympathy to Eileen and Pat Cantwell and family, Moyne Village on the recent death of Eileen’s father, Thomas Mockler, Longfordpass, Gortnahoe. May his soul enjoy eternal rest.

Cemetery Masses - Mass will be celebrated at Templeree Cemetery on Friday, 12th August at 7.30 p.m.; at Templetuohy Cemetery on Monday, 15th August at 7.30 p.m. and at Moyne Old Cemetery on Sunday, 21st August at 12 noon.

101st Birthday - Congratulations and best wishes to Catherine (Kitty) Maher, currently a resident of Padre Pio Nursing Home, Holycross and formerly Killoran who celebrated her 101st birthday on 29th July.
