SUMMER CAMP: An Cnoc Bán, Spink, just outside Abbeyleix is getting ready for its unique children’s summer camps on a working organic family farm. According to the Fitzpatrick family who run the summer camps, “Following the success of last year’s activities, this summer at An Cnoc Bán we are delighted to offer a range of outdoor farm fun for 4 to 8 and 9 to 12 year olds. Running during July and August the camps are different each week with Summer Baking; Book-Making; Nature Trails & Crafts; Green Wellies - Farming & Gardening; and Crafty Kids – design & make your own Soft Toys & jewellery. The cost is €80 per week which includes all ingredients and materials”. Pre-booking essential as numbers limited to ensure hands-on participation under the supervision of trained staff.

YOUTH FESTIVAL: The annual Youth Summer Festival in Clonmacnoise takes place this year from August 4 to 7. This is a four day Catholic event for youth aged from 16 years to 35. It brings together young people from all across the country to grow in faith, form new friendships and celebrate with music and prayer. There will be workshops, discussion groups and inspiring speakers. A bus will travel to the Festival with pick up points in Rathdowney, Borris in Ossory, Camross and Roscrea.
