Meeting - On Wednesday, 22nd August a meeting of Community Alert Neighbourhood Watch was held in the Marian Centre. The meeting was chaired by Trevor Stanley and there was a very poor attendance. Since the last meeting three alarms were fitted by Teresa Moloney and Betty O’Brien. If anyone out there needs an alarm please contact us. The discussion at the meeting was mainly about fundraising. We need money in the group to build up our aims of protection and security for everyone. We intend to hold church gate collections in Rathdowney, details later. Our next meeting will be on Wednesday, 12 September in the Marian Centre at 8 p.m.
Knitters - The knitting group meet every Monday from 2 p.m. to 4.30 p.m. in the Communal Centre of Cuan Bhride. All the ladies have been working hard and have made donations of babies hats to the three hospitals, Portlaoise Maternity Unit, St. Luke’s Baby Unit, Kilkenny and the Childrens’ Hospital, Temple Street, Dublin. All three hospitals have been very pleased with the very beautiful hats knitted by the group. This is a really successful project in Rathdowney where all the ladies all work together in harmony and are pleased to welcome new members to join up.
Bingo - Every Tuesday night we have Bingo in the Community Centre, Rathdowney at 8.30 p.m. Do come along and bring your friends, a great night is assured.
