Our Lady’s Sodality - The next meeting of Our Lady’s Sodality will be on Monday, 25th June starting with Holy Mass at 7.30 p.m. in Knockavilla Church. As this will be the last meeting before the Summer recess all members from the adjoining parishes are requested to attend.
The Eucharistic Congress - Many people from our parish travelled to Dublin to attend the Mass for the closing of the Eucharistic Congress at Croke Park, others went to volunteer their services during the week. The Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament has been well attended for the duration and before. We also had prayers and celebrations to mark the occasion. Nevertheless the mood was sombre compared by what we can imagine took place at the last Congress in 1932 when times and circumstances were more difficult to mobilise. Our thanks to our priests who had to deal with the heavy load practically with their own time and efforts. The theme of the Eucharistic Congress was “The Eucharistic Communion with Christ and With One Another”.
The New Cemetery - The New Cemetery in Knockavilla has been appropriately names St. Senan’s. In Kilshanane (Cill Seanain) the remains of the Saint’s Killeen can still be located. That it was a Killeen (little church) points to its antiquity of the kind that St. Seanan founded in many places before finally settling in Inis Cathaigh (Scattery Island). It is conceivable to believe that he did visit our parish and founded a little church here. He died in 544 A.D. From “A Tipperary Parish by Miceal Mac Carthaigh”.
Congratulations - To Rev. Gerard Ryan newly ordained priest in Toronto, a past student of Donaskeigh School and parishioner of Annacarty - Donohill who will celebrate Mass in Annacarty Church on Sunday, 24th July at 11 a.m. A Special occasion.
