Parade - This year’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Killaloe-Ballina will start in Ballina Riverside Park at 2 p.m. and finish on the Green, Killaloe. Grand Parade Marshal - Clare 2010 Rose, Nuala Mc Keogh who will travel in an open-top car previously owned by Princess Diana, will lead the local St. Patrick’s Day Parade. Nuala is the daughter of Denis and Marian, Ballycorney, Killaloe and is a Primary School teacher in Killaloe Boys’ N.S.

Senior Citizens “Break” - The annual trip ‘away’ for the Senior and Active retired Citizens of Ballina/Killaloe and surrounding parishes will take place to Sligo on Thursday 26th and Friday 27th of May. The trip will include a visit to Galway, Ballintubber Abbey, overnight in the Best Western Sligo Southern Hotel and Leisure Centre (B.& B. and Dinner), Rosses Point, Boyle, Roscommon, Lough Key Forest and Activity Park. Evening meal in the Hudson Bay Hotel, Athlone will precede the return trip to Killaloe where the approx. arrival time is 10 p.m. The fare of 100 euro (single supplement, 12 euro) includes travel, morning coffee in Gort, Dinner and B.& B. in Sligo and evening dinner in the Hudson Bay Hotel.

Booking with name and a deposit of 50 euro should be given to any member of the committee as soon as possible.

Mini Company Success - Congratulations to all the students from St. Anne’s Community College that participated in the Clare County final 2011 Enterprise Awards, which were held in the West County hotel in Ennis last week. The students were winners in both Junior and Senior Categories. In the Junior Section, the winning Natural Hampers was presented by Emer Mooney while Angela Kennedy, Leah Farnan and Meabh Gardiner were second with “Little Runaways”. Starling Records were winners in the Senior Category and we congratulate Sean Hayes, Audrey Chew Ernern, Noel McInerney and Darragh O’Riordan. Amy Beck, Peter English, Eoin Burke-Maguire and James were in third place with their ‘Jersey’ company.

Tennis Activities - The Killaloe Ballina Tennis Club would like to remind all members that the A.G.M. will take place on Thursday, March 24th at 8.30 p.m. in the Lakeside Hotel and again we would encourage members to attend. The Club Singles competition sponsored by The Clare English Language School is due to start on Tuesday, March 29th with a finishing date of Sunday, April 10th. The sign up sheet is on the club notice board and deadline for entry is this Friday, March 18th at 8.00 p.m. “The Liam O’Riain” Winter League is finally drawing to a close with the finals being held on Sunday, March 20th.
