Templemore Athletic Club: St Patrick’s Day Parade: All club members should meet at 11.30am at the Track to prepare to participate in the St Patrick’s Day Parade.
WINDOW Display – Athletic Club: To Commemorate the Club’s 35th Anniversary we have organised a ‘Window Display’ of our achievements over that time in Shortts Drapery, Main Street, Templemore. Take a look at 35 years of outstanding success for a few minutes.
Ladies Golf: Participation has been very enthusiastic in the Spring League this year. Thankfully the weather has made it possible for us to get out to play, and the ladies have been out in great numbers. As can be seen from the results Week 2 has now finished, and even though two teams on an equal score have pulled away slightly, the prizes are still there for the taking. Week 3 continues until Sunday next March 20th .
Mountain Fitness Walks: The Mountain Fitness walks have resumed for 2011. On the remaining Sundays of Lent the walks will start out at the Mountain Fitness Gym in Killoskehane from 9am and will follow the usual route to the Devil’s Bit mountain and back. Perhaps it is important to mention that the walk caters for all levels of fitness – so you can walk for any distance you feel you are able to. (The full walk takes 1 ½ to 2 hours max). On Easter Sunday there will be a fun element introduced with a treasure hunt organised for the children, and at the end of the walk breakfast will be laid on for the adults.
Scor: A huge number of people will descend on Templemore from all over Munster on Sat evening next to contest the Munster Final of Senior Scor. The event will be held in the Gym of Our Lady’s Secondary School. Good luck to our own JK Brackens Instrumental Group (Jim Egan, Fran Denny, Pauric Stapleton, Ann Cantwell and Marie Sheedy) , also to Loughmore Question Time Team and Set Dancers from Borrisoleigh.
Templemore Town Council 150th Anniversary
A Launch of a Book detailing events and happenings of Town Council since its inception in 1860 will take place in Templemore Arms Hotel on Wednesday 16th March at 8pm in conjunction with the Annual Blessing of the Shamrock. Music and light refreshments available. All are welcome.
O.N.E.: Pierse McCan Branch Late Mick Galvin The death occurred recently of Mick Galvin of Two-Mile-Borris. A native of Moyasta Co. Clare he remained loyal to his “banner” roots to the end. Mick joined the Army around the time of the emergency. He served with the Cavalry Corps in the Curragh rising to the rank of Sergeant Major, and was one of the first Irish U.N. Soldiers to serve in the Congo in 1960. Rest in peace Mick.
St. Patrick’s Day. The branch will march in St. Patrick’s Day Parades in Templemore and Roscrea and members are requested to be at the assembly point adjacent to Eddie Joe’s at 12 noon.
Heart Foundation Collection: Heart Foundation collection at all Masses in Loughmore and Castleiney on this Saturday and Sunday the 19th and 20th March.
