The North Tipperary Family Support Group
The North Tipperary Family Support Group meet every Wednesday evening from 7-9pm in the Legion Hall, located in the Church grounds, Abbey Street, Roscrea. It is a support group for those affected by a loved one’s addiction.
The only requirement for inclusion is that there is a problem of alcohol/drug addiction in a relative or close friend. The group is run by trained facilitators and jointly managed by NTLP & TRYS. We aim to provide a safe space where a number of people with a common concern or problem can come together to share their experiences and to offer support to one another. The new season will commence on Tuesday next the 20th of September at 8pm in Shinrone Community Hall. All members are invited to return to training as soon as possible as the teams for the first competition of the year must be selected in early October. In addition the Club would like to welcome past members or anyone interested in joining the club. You will receive a warm welcome. Membership fees for the year are €60.00 and must be paid as soon as possible. Potential new members can try the game for three weeks before we request them to join. The nightly fee for training remains at just €5.00 which is extremely competitive when compared with the costs of various other sports and classes available. Roscrea Guild – ICA
Roscrea ICA resumes this month after the summer break. The meeting will take place in the Legion Hall at 8pm on Wednesday the 21st of September. New members are always welcome.

Apostolic Work Society
Members of the Apostolic Work Society thank those who contributed so generously to their recent collection in aid of the foreign missions. Roscrea Folk Group To Perform At Kilkenny Cathedral
A great honour will be bestowed upon Roscrea Folk Group and local composer Seamus Doran when they perform on Friday the 16th of September at St Mary’s Kilkenny Cathedral. The invitation to perform the Mass at the Cathedral comes on the back of the successful launch of “Lead Me Home” a mass that was written and composed by Seamus Doran last Spring. The hymns have received tremendous acclaim throughout the Country and it is no surprise that Seamus has received numerous invitations to perform the mass on numerous occasions since.
All are invited to come along to the mass and to give with they can to help Aislinn Family Services while supporting Seamus and the wonderful Roscrea Folk Group.

Sympathy to Graham Mcbride of Rosemount Roscrea on the sad loss of Dan Hogan in Ballyadams Co Carlow last week. Dan was laid to rest in Dumphea Co Carlow last Wednesday. Our thoughts are with Graham and all the Mcbride and Hogan families at this very sad time.

Roscrea SPCA are holding their Annual General Meeting on Wednesday 21st September at 8pm in Damer Court Hotel, Roscrea (Grant’s). If you are interested in animal welfare why not come along? Everyone is welcome to attend.
Bellefield Garden Open Day
A fair will be held in the grounds of Bellefield House, Shinrone, Co. Offaly on Saturday 17th September from 11am to 4.30p. The fair will offer a last chance to enjoy the remains of Summer before Winter closes in. The garden is still looking good with the wonderful reds, yellows and bronzes of autumn leaves and flowers. The fruit and vegetable garden has been excellent with a glut of goodies to be prepared and kept for the Winter and now spring flowering bulbs ready for planting.
Buy spring and autumn flowering plants and bulbs in the Courtyard, enjoy homemade coffee and cakes in the Stable, sample and purchase the flavoursome foods made by local artisans and stroll around the Walled Garden where yellow clematis, echinaceas, heliniums, asters and rudbeckias are blooming with brazen colour as if defying the threat of Winter. Entrance fee is just €5 and all are welcome.

CLASSES FOR CHILDREN:- Kickboxing Class for 6 - 12 year olds every Friday nite in the Abbey Hall from 7pm to 8pm. €6 per class. Dance Kraze (Hip Hop) every Sat in Abbey Hall. 4 to 7 yr olds from 2pm - 3pm and 8 - 12 yr olds from 3pm - 4pm. €7 per class. Irish Dancing resumes in Abbey Hall this Sat from 11am to 1pm. A drugs awareness day supported by North Tipperary leader and facilitated by the Roscrea Drugs Initiative will take place in The Damer court Hotel, Roscrea on Saturday the 1st of October. The awareness day will be presented by “CAD” and all are invited to come along.
Pilgrimage To Knock
The National Legion Of Mary Pilgrimage to Knock will take place on September 25th. This will be the last pilgrimage from the Roscrea area to Knock for 2011 so please book your place early. The bus will leave Main Street, Roscrea at 9am with further pick ups at Sharavogue 9.10am and Birr at 9.15am. The bus fare is €15.00 for adults and €10.00 for children. Training continues every Tuesday and Thursday evening at 7:15pm. New players are welcome. In charge of training is club coach John Lillis, Club Captain Paul McNamara and seconds coach Brian O’Rourke. Unless you pay all or part of your subscription, you are not insured to play rugby. Your subscription goes towards insurance and needs to be paid at the beginning of the season, not in the middle or the end.
