In the July 22nd edition, an article appeared in these pages highlighting the presence of vintage military aircraft in the skies over the town the previous weekend.

The aircraft, a propellor-driven North American P-51 Mustang and a Hawker Hunter jet gave an impromptu display over Cashel as the Hunter pilot Andy Hill had been involved in the Red Bull Air Race here in 2005 and was giving his opposite number Nigel Lambe, a look round. Later that weekend both aircraft flew at the Shannon and Foynes Air Displays. Last Saturday at Shoreham Air Display, West Sussex, the same Hawker Hunter flown by Andy Hill - a former RAF pilot and British Airways Airbus captain - crashed onto a motorway killing 11 people.
