Noel Coonan TD has welcomed the official launch of Pieta Roscrea and subsequent increases in Mental Health Services in the area.
Deputy Coonan commented: “Roscrea has suffered a lot of tragedy in the past and many people have lost loved ones to suicide. Pieta House offers an invaluable service to people affected by suicide and we are all very grateful to welcome this office into our community.”
“There thankfully has been an increase in mental health services available in Roscrea since 2010. An outreach clinic is held weekly by the Thurles Community Mental Health Team and a consultant psychiatrist from Thurles also holds a clinic in Roscrea every second week. Since this July of this year a mental health officer, whose post is part funded by the HSE, has been working locally and providing assistance to mental health groups such as Pieta House. The HSE continues to provide grant aid to approximately 40 agencies in the Mid West including Pieta House,” explained Deputy Coonan.
“I want to commend the committed people of Roscrea who formed a committee, took action and made this happen.”
