Festival 2013 - Less then 4 weeks left to our festival. We have a huge line up this year with something for everybody. All we need is the good weather!!!!!
Congrats - to Catherine Kiely, Cappawhite and Emma Compton, Donaskeigh 2 more lovely ladies in our Queen competition. Toohrys Bar, Golden will play host to our queens for their official interviews on Fri 31st May from 8pm. Music and finger food for all on the night. Call in and enjoy good music song and Craic and of course meet all our queens.
The Cornerstone Bar Golden will hold a very novel “go kart“ race on Sunday evening 2nd June at 8pm outside the pub. Contact the cornerstone for more info on this brilliant event or follow them on Facebook.
The Gathering - The Bridge House Bar will play host to “The Gathering” 40 year reunion of Golden, Cashel and Arravale Rovers hurlers on Sat 1st June directly after the much awaited “festival on the island”.
Music and finger food for all on the nite. Both of these events are free. Raffle on the island for a weekend away and a huge hamper. Tickets just €2.
As part of the gathering Ireland we are holding a “ heritage walk of golden village” on Sat 1st June at 11.30am, starting at the bridge house and ending at the GAA festival hall, where tea will be served. This walk will take 1 hour and will take in all aspects of Golden village.
Local historian Carmel O’Donnell will kindly lead this walk and everyone is invited to join her. This is a free event and well worth joining. More info from 087 2196413.
Don’t forget our hugely popular “sports and family” day on Sun 2nd June in GAA grounds with timber auction, interview of queens, big line up of side shows, dog show, cake sale and teas run by tidy village commt, bottle bank, bric a braic, jewellery, kiddies races, an u10 blitz and bouncy castles run by juvenile gaa... etc etc. All hosted by our own Michael Fitzgerald Cappawhite, Mattie Browne Cappawhite, Tommy Browne Golden, Carol Leamy Thomastown, The Gauy Mghan family Kilfeacle, Bridget Shanahan.
