The Community Council would like to thank everyone who took part in our sponsored climb of Slievenamon recently (see above). All children and adults braved the elements to complete this very enjoyable day.
Thanks to Gerry Geraldine and Irene Shanahan who provided the refreshments to us all in the Coachman pub in Clonmel afterwards. The community alert committee has been very busy over the last few weeks distributing the GPS consent forms. This Wednesday, (tonight Feb. 19th), we will input the information already collected into the database for Muintir Na Tíre. This will take place in the Venue from 7pm until 9pm. Anyone who hasn’t yet returned their forms or who has not received any, are asked to call down to the venue and sign up. It is not possible to include names after we complete this process. Tomorrow night, Thursday (Feb. 20th) there is a public community alert meeting taking place in Knockavilla Hall at 7.30pm. Representatives from the Gardai, Fire Officer Department and Muintir Na Tire will address the meeting on all aspects of safety. We also hope to have some fire alarms and carbon monoxide alarms for sale at a special price. Our collection of old mobile phones in the parish is now underway. We have boxes in Knockavilla Church and Brownes shop. We need to reach a target of 300 to be able to avail of a free defibrillator in Knockavilla.
