Galtee walking club - three groups
All three groups were out on the Galtees last Sunday in good walking conditions even if it was a bit foggy. Tom Lyons had to move his A walk to Glengarra because of deer hunting in the Kilcoran area.
Denny O’Dwyer brought the B group on the Attychraan Loop, starting from King’s Yard. At the ruined cottage Denny gave a short talk on local folklore and all the walkers admired the new footbridge across the river. Liz McNamara led a feature filled hike for 23 C walkers in the woods and hillside near Cahir, visiting such hidden treasures as the ruins of an old Quaker linen factory, a holy well and a megalithic tomb.
Thanks to Liz and Una. Next Sunday Joe Browne meets A walkers at Galtee Castle car park at 10am and Mary Murphy takes a C walk from Ballinvreena at 11am.
