Nenagh council pays tribute to Tony Geaney

Nenagh Town Council this week passed a vote of sympathy to the family of Tony Geaney, William Street, who died last weekend. Cllr Hughie McGrath described Mr Geaney as “kind and very good to the community”.

Nenagh Town Council this week passed a vote of sympathy to the family of Tony Geaney, William Street, who died last weekend. Cllr Hughie McGrath described Mr Geaney as “kind and very good to the community”.

He had left behind a great legacy, he said. Cllr McGrath recalled how he had often played music with Mr Geaney.

Cllr Seamus Morris said Mr Geaney had a “huge amount of respect” among his colleagus in Nenagh Post Office, and people he served had a lot of trust in him.

“He was one of the most welcoming citizens in Nenagh,” said Cllr Virginia O’Dowd. “What ever he did, he did with a smile”.

He was described by Cllr Tommy Morgan as a “wonderful man”, while Mayor Jimmy Moran said he was “powerful”.
