MacDonagh Celebrations - The new Thomas MacDonagh Heritage Centre and relocated library was officially opened by Government Minister Jimmy Deenihan last Friday week. Despite the inclement weather a very large crowd of dignitaries, invited guests and general public were present for the opening of this magnificent facility. Afterwards celebrations continued with Old Time dancing in St. Kieran’s Hall.

Afterwards celebrations continued with Old Time dancing in St. Kieran’s Hall.

On Saturday the first ever Thomas MacDonagh School was held. The speakers were David Lawlor from Kilruane, Honor O’Brolchain and Barbara Redmond. In the afternoon those attending the school visited the site of the Modreent Ambush and Ardcroney Castle. On Sunday evening Honor O’Brolchain, a grand-niece of Joseph Mary Plunkett gave an illustrated talk on the contribution of the Plunkett family to 19th century life in Ireland. The celebrations concluded with an Irish night in Grace’s Pub on Monday night. Mass Rock - A Fun and Faith Day will take place on Sunday, 26th May at the Mass Rock in Ardcroney Church.

Camogie - Kilruane MacDonaghs Junior ‘A’ Camogie team were beaten in the League County semi-final by Drom-Inch on a scoreline of 1-6 to 0-11.

8K Road Race - Cloughjordan No.1 N.S Parent Teacher Association are holding an 8k Road Race/Family Walk on this Sunday, 19th May at 3pm in aid of Cloughjordan No1 N.S. The event will be started by Greg Starr from Borrisokane who recently featured in Operation Transformation on RTE. Prizes for the three male and female finishers. Registration from 1.30pm in St. Kieran’s Hall. Refreshments served after race in St. Kieran’s Hall.

Confirmation - Bishop Kieran O’Reilly will celebrate the sacrament of Confirmation on this Saturday, 18th May in Cloughjordan Church.

Hurling - Kilruane MacDonaghs Senior hurlers were beaten by Kildangan in the North Championship played in Toomevara last Sunday. Clothes Collection - St. Michael’s N.S Parents Association would like to thank all who donated clothes and cuddly toys to their recent appeal. A total of E849 was raised from the sale of these items.
