A calendar of events for the ‘Gathering 2013’ is being compiled at the moment and a printed leaflet will be available in a few weeks’ time. From now until the end of 2013 we expect many tourists to visit our town – some for a few hours or a day, others for a weekend and, if family members living abroad have decided to answer the call and return to Ireland to be a part of ‘The Gathering 2013’, perhaps they will stay for a week or two. Now is the time to think about the cleaning and the painting!!
To coincide with National Spring Cleaning Week, a massive clean-up of the town is planned for the week beginning April 8th next. It is called ‘Crown Our Town Week’ as the makers of Crown Paints have donated paint and the Fleetwood Company will supply brushes to get the job done. The clean-up will concentrate on the main thoroughfare of the town – Main Street/Patrick Street.
For this week volunteers are required to come on board and give a little of their time to be a part of something much bigger, - as the old saying goes ‘many hands make light work’. We appeal to abled-bodied people to take a ‘leap of faith’ and help out as a matter of having pride in your town. Come as a group for an even greater impact.
The Tidy Towns Committee has made huge strides in cleaning up areas all around the town year after year. This clean-up should add greatly to their efforts in increasing points for our town in the Tidy Towns Competition. Contact Martin on 086-2512195 and let him know when you will be available.
We again ask if you have a spare room available for rent during the year please contact Michael on 086-0782306.
