Seán Treacy Pipe Band - Congrats to piper J.P. Cooney, Ballybeg, Littleton, an All-Ireland League player with Garryowen, who has been given the opportunity to display his talents at Connacht Rugby after being awarded a development contract with the province.

J.P. and two others have been drafted in as Head Coach Eric Elwood puts the finishing touches to the 2012/13 squad. Son of Andy and Kathryn (nee Fogarty), J.P., a loyal piper with the band in Moycarkey for almost ten years now, has just completed his third level degree in U.L., but puts his teaching career on hold to become a professional rugby player. All his band comrades wish him well on a remarkable achievement for the young man and his family. Ardfhear go deo!

The Late Anne Ryan – The death has taken place on July 29th at her residence of Anne Ryan (nee Shanahan), The Village, Two-Mile-Borris (formerly of Borrisoleigh) after a long illness.
