To mark the 10th anniversary of the late Jimmy Duggan on August 10th next, his wife Anna and son James wanted to mark the occasion in some meaningful way.
They decided to organize a charity event to raise money for the Irish Heart Foundation together with Anne Riordan, Regional Manager of the Irish Heart Foundation and several members of the local community in Garrykennedy. Both natives of Templemore,
Jimmy and Anna belong to families in business locally –Duggan Bros and Larkins Pub (now Clarkes).
The family would very much appreciate your help and support in this fundraising effort.
The main event is a 10K Fun Run/Walk which will be held in Garrykennedy on Sunday 26th August at 2pm. The scenic route for the occasion runs mostly through the back roads around the village of Garrykennedy. There are some hills on the way up to Portroe, but from Portroe back to Garrykennedy the route is mostly downhill so it will suit runners and walkers alike. There is NO ENTRY FEE for the Fun Run, but all competitors are asked to take a Sponsorship Card to raise money for the Irish Heart Foundation and these sponsorship cards are available from Ciss Ryans and Larkins in Garrykennedy or by contacting Anna on firstname.lastname@example.org. There will be prizes for the first man and woman home, the best fancy dress outfit and there will also be several other prizes awarded on the day. Roy and Denise Breen of Ciss Ryans have very kindly offered to donate a complimentary buffet for all contestants after the race and the prize giving will be held in Ciss Ryans and will be followed by live music. We promise a family fun filled day with games and face painting for the kids and a chance to score a goal against the Tipperary senior hurling goalie, Darren Gleeson, so please bring the kids along and don’t forget your hurleys. “You Got It” talent competition The other showcase event will be held in Larkins in Garrykennedy on Saturday 18th August. The “You Got It” talent competition will be hosted by Teresa and Brendan O’Connor and there will be prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in this competition. As the competition is being run over one night only, we have had to limit the amount of competitors to 10. We already have 5 entrants, so there are only 5 places still available which we predict will fill up quickly. If anyone is interested in getting involved in this competition please contact Anna on email@example.com or Brendan O’Connor on : https://www.facebook.com/gotittalentshow?ref=hl
We will be asking all competitors in the “You Got It” competition to take a sponsorship card and votes will be awarded to each contestant for every Euro they collect for the Irish Heart Foundation. There will also be a chance to get more votes on the night when members of the public will be asked to buy votes for their favourite contestants so invite all your friends along on the night. All donations from both events will go to the Irish Heart Foundation.
The main sponsors of the event are Ciss Ryans and Larkins in Garrykennedy and we also hope to acquire sponsorship from several local businesses for spot prizes and raffle prizes on the night.
We will be holding a bucket collection in Nenagh on Thursday 16th August and in Garrykennedy and surrounding areas on Saturday 18th August and Sunday 26th August and we would ask that everyone donate whatever they can afford to these collections. We are hoping that this will be the first of many fundraisers in aid of the Irish Heart Foundation in Garrykennedy so please come along and support us on both occasions. We look forward to seeing you there.
