Retired - Michael Hyland of Curraun, Aghaboe has retired as Bus Driver after thirty two years. He was an excellent driver with a safe free record. He drove for Rathdowney schools and he gained the respect and love of all the children. Michael had his set of rules which were obeyed without question.
He also drove his bus to many social events where young people were so glad to be safe and well cared for. On June 31st last, Michael made his last trip. He wisely decided to retire and spend his years with his wife Nora away from the pressure of watching the clock and his bus every day. We wish Michael many long years of retirement and thank him for the kindness he showed to our children.
Knitters - The Knitters Group meet every Monday from 2 to 4.30 p.m. in the Marion Centre. They do wonderful work and all help each other out. They are presently knitting hats for new born babies and sending them to various hospitals. Some of the members entered their work in the Ossory Show and three ladies won prizes. Recently the group went on a shopping trip where they brought lots of wool, patterns and much more. A very happy group, they all enjoy the work and the chat. New members are always welcome to come along and join.
