Health and Safety Consultant, Tadhg Dwyer, of Thurles, has won the first ever All-Ireland Stone throwing finals in ,hurles, County Tipperary.
He was best of 25 finalists when he threw a stone weighing 12kg twelve metres to take the Cabragh Wetlands Perpetual Trophy.
The event was all part of the fun at the inaugural Town and Country Sports Festival, organised by Cabragh Wetlands Conservation Group near Thurles.
“People came from all over Ireland and we now hope the festival will be an annual event”, said Festival spokesman, Tom Grace. He added”
Tadhg Dwyer is now the strongest stone thrower in Ireland.
