Cemetery Masses - Mass will be celebrated at Templeree Cemetery on Friday, 10th August at 7 p.m.; at Cooleeney Cemetery on Sunday, 12th August commencing at 12 noon and at Templetuohy Cemetery on Wed, 15th August at 7 p.m.

Oiche Cheoil - The next musical evening will take place at Cullen’s on this Saturday, 11th August commencing at 9 p.m. Great entertainment is guaranteed.

Parish Newsletter - Well done to all concerned with the production of the 2011 parish newsletter which was launched on July 14th. It has received much praise and is now completely sold out. Thanks to the local shops who stocked it and to all the patrons who purchased same.

Late Denis Bergin - The death occurred peacefully on 3rd August of Denis Bergin, Templetuohy. He was 87 and had been in good health until recent times. He was the last surviving member of the family of the late Tim and Mary Anne (nee Kelly) Bergin and was predeceased by his brother Tom, sisters Brigid (Fogarty) and Mary. He was a dependable School Bus Driver for many years and a capable Mechanic. A regular attender at the Church of the Sacred Heart, Templetuohy until ill health intervened just five weeks ago. He was well prepared to meet the Almighty.

The removal was from Grey’s Funeral Home to Templetuohy Church. Principal Celebrant of his Concelebrated Requiem Mass was Fr. Pat Murphy P.P. assisted by Fr. Stephen Carey and Fr. Joe Egan P.P. Boherlahan. Templetuohy Choir as always, provided a fitting accompaniment to the ceremony following which his mortal remains were laid to rest in the family burial place in Templetuohy Cemetery. Deepest sympathy to his sister-in-law Alice, nephews Tom, Tim and Willie, nieces Bríd, Máire and Nóirin, relatives and friends. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.

Soccer Tournament - The winning team of the Men’s section of the Over 30’s Soccer Tournament held on July 29th at Moyne Sportsfield representing Quinlan’s Pub comprised Alan, Declan and Joe Leahy, Pierce Butler, Ml. Esmonde, Shane Fogarty, Ailbe Hayden, Jas Moloney and Seanie Mockler. Runners-up representing Moyne Veterinary Clinic, Ken, Kevin, Conor, Brian and Tom Quinlan, Tom Rykala, John Lynch, Ronan Keher, Garry Hassey and Thos Doyle. ‘Player of the Tournament’ was Alan Leahy.

Winners of the Ladies section was the ‘Desperate Housewives’, Aoife Campion, Edel Leahy, Olivia Coughlan, Caitríona Daly, Deirdre Quinlan, Mary Gorman, Elaine and Máiréad Quinlan. Runners-up, Templetuohy Ladies Football team. ‘Player of the Tournament’ was Deirdre Quinlan.

Congratulations - Congratulations to Brendan Gavin, son of Martin and Margaret Gavin, Templetouhy, on his wedding to Roisin Delaney, Portlaoise, who were married on 19th july in the Heath Church, Portlaoise. Very best wishes to them both for the future.
