Knockroe lost a landmark figure with the recent untimely passing of Donal O’Regan.

Knockroe lost a landmark figure with the recent untimely passing of Donal O’Regan.

His sudden death at the age of 63 shocked everyone.

Donal was a man known to everyone in the parish and indeed much further afield.

Donal excelled in his chosen career of farming - it was his life. Starting from a young age he worked at growing the business and achieved the title young farmer of the year.

Donal got married to Maireád Fanning from Moycarkey, they have three children Daniel, Andrea and Rory.

He is survived by his father Danny.

Donal was a warm caring person, well known for visiting the relatives and neighbours.

A great neighbour, himself, a friend and confidant, always keeping in contact with people willing to help in any way possible.

His door was always open to everybody, his home was a welcoming place,

Maireád had the cup of tea ready or something stronger if you were in form for same.

Words on paper are an inadequate means of conveying what Donal meant to his family, to the people of Moycarkey and to everyone who knew him. However, all those who had the pleasure of knowing and working with Donal will appreciate his contribution to the many aspects of family, farming and parish life with which he was involved.
