BALLYQUAID MASS PIT: The annual Mass at the Mass Pit in Ballyquaid was to take place on Monday August 15, the Feast of the Assumption. Unfortunately, due to the wet evening it was decided to celebrate the Mass in the church. There was a large attendance at the Mass which was con-celebrated by Dean Seamus McEvoy and Rev Fr Robert Fletcher PP.
It is hoped to have a Mass at the Mass Pit in Ballyquaid at a later date.
PROGRESSIVE 25 DRIVE: The results of last week’s Progressive 25 Drive in the O’Brien Hall were as follows 1st - Lar and Stasia Maher, Willie O’Reilly and Larry Dunne, 2nd - Michael Murphy and Jack Maher, Joe Dooley and Jacob Fairbrother, 10th game – Jim Maher and Mary Maher, 15th game - Paddy Sheeran and Tony Walsh, 20th game – Maura Bolger and Michael Doyle.
Raffle winners were – Sheila Ryan, Martin Dowling, Michael Muldowney and Sinead Bergin.
The Progressive 25 Drive will continue next Thursday night in the O’Brien Hall at 9pm.
SYMPATHY: Before the game began, a vote of sympathy was extended to Tom Quigley and family on the death of his brother John Quigley who died in the USA. Tom is a regular supporter of the weekly card game.
EUCHARISTIC SERVICES: Eucharistic Services will be celebrated in Borris in Ossory at 10am all this week. Mass in Killasmeestia Church will be on Tuesday and Thursday morning at 9am and Adoration will take place on Thursday from 9.30am to 3pm.
PILGRIMAGE TO KNOCK: The annual parish pilgrimage to Knock Shrine will take place on Thursday August 25. All those travelling are reminded that deposits should be paid as soon as possible to Marie Power, Green Roads, Marie Kelly, Kilcoke, Josie Dunphy, Knockaroo or Josie Keenan, Borris in Ossory.
