The 3rd annual Thurles Harvest Festival was officially launched this week with the organisers promising a much bigger and better event this year.
The one day event will take place on the bank Holiday Monday 4th August with a start time of 11.00am. There is a new venue for the festival and the committee are extremely grateful to the Thurles Sarsfields GAA Club for allowing them to use their playing field beside Semple Stadium as this years venue. As with last years event all profits on the day will go to a number of local charities including Thurles Special Olympics, Thurles Halloween Arts Festival and Mo Chara Animal Rescue. This event proved a huge success last year and organisers are hoping that people from all over Tipperary will come out on the day to enjoy everything that will be on offer.
Events taking place will include the All Ireland Highland Games, dog show, American wrestling, food and craft stalls, vintage machinery, live music, funfair rides, bouncy castles, trade stalls, and much more to be confirmed. “We are really thrilled that we are once again hosting this festival and extremely proud that we have managed to secure so many events that are sure to bring visitors to Thurles from all over Ireland “ states Chairman of the organising committee Cllr Jim Ryan . Thurles faced stiff competition from other towns for the Highland Games competition and a lot of work went into securing this very prestigious event.
Cllr David Doran Secretary of the organising committee states that all members of the committee have been very busy over the last number of months in putting everything together.
Anyone interested in having a food or craft stall at the event they can contact Jim Ryan at 086 2397376 or firstname.lastname@example.org and the committee would also welcome any local business wishing to have a trade stall at the event.
