Peter Alley’s book ‘My Way’ was launched on Sunday November 17th in Dundrum House Hotel before a hugh attendance.
Before the launch patrons were entertained with first class singing by Mary Morrissey, Susan Corcoran, Kieran Hickey, Gerry, Gleeson Michael Molumby, Austin Crowe and by Peter Alley himself, all accompanied by Kay Wallace in her own soft and beautiful way. The book has been acclaimed since the launch and Peter has been amazed at the response received from people who have read it. It is selling very well since the launch and is expected to be sold out early in the new year. The book is a result of three year occupational therapy for the author and is in the main an autobiography from 1941 to the present day. What an amazing life! It indicates many ups and downs told genuinely in a light hearted style intermixed with many amazing and serious occasions. Some of the incidents recorded make it a compulsive read. The beautiful thing is there are no punches pulled and it is all from memory held deep within the authors past. The book is divided neatly into 28 chapters each one telling its own story. It can be divided into seven sections; Growing up, Education National and Secondary, followed by Forestry School and Training, Musical Productions, Business and Practical Forestry, Bad Health and Recovery, Game Hunting and the GAA and lastly Curing the ills of Society.
Peter thinks the last one is the subject for another book.He is extremely grateful for all the assistance he got locally but particularly from Paddy O’Dwyer, Boherlahan. He thanked all those who purchased the book which is now on sale in many local outlets and will be while stocks last. The book is dressed with many photographs of family and people involved in Peters life. He finished by thanking Orla McCarthy, Cappawhite for all those wonderful photographs.
