Cashel played St Cronins (Roscrea) in New Inn on Sunday, September 29th, in the fourth round of the Junior Championship.
After five minutes St Cronins opened the scoring with a fine worked goal.
It took Cashel almost 10 minutes to settle into the game but played a fine brand of camogie for the remainder of the half, to lead at the interval by 1-5 to 1-3.
Right from the restart Cashel up the tempo and scored two points to extend their lead. St Cronins then came back into the game and scored two points from frees and one from play to make the the remaining minutes interesting.
From the puck out, a lovely movement by Cashel, led to a brilliant goal and then added two more points to leave the final score. 2-9 to 1-6.
Last Sunday Cashel travelled to Portroe for their final group game in the Junior Championship. Only one point separated these two teams so it was winner take all and go through to the semi-final. Cashel opened the scoring in the first few minutes and then added two more points to their credit. Then a lapse in the defence allowed Portroe score a soft goal and then added a further point. Cashel scored a point from a free and with 10 minutes to go Portroe scored a further point from a free leaving the half time score Portroe 1-2 Cashel 0-4.
On resumption Cashel moved up a gear and scored four unanswered points, but Portroe came back and tagged a goal and two points to leave the Portroe leading by 2-4 to 0-8. With six minutes remaining and two points separating the teams Cashel quickly moved into overdrive and from all angles scored four brilliant points to side Cashel run out winners by 0-12 to 2-4.
