South Tipperary County Council has refused planning permission for a major service station near Cahir.

John O’Leary lodged plans for 8 petrol/diesel pumps on two islands, with underground fuel storage tanks, and other works at Scartnaglorane. The plans included provision for a proposed forecourt building (300m2), retail shop space (90.5m2), cafe/take away food area (99.5m2) and external seating area, with toilet and baby changing facilities and off licence. Permission was also sought for parking of heavy goods vehicles/buses (27 spaces) and cars (30 spaces), two fast fill diesel pumps, and a self-service truck wash.
