Order of Malta - On Tuesday, 4th June in the Muintir na Tire Hall, Littleton at 7pm, First Aid certificates will be conferred on members of the Community Alert committee who have successfully completed a course organised by the Order of Malta. The new ambulance will be on display and its up to date features explained. All are welcome to attend. The monthly meeting of Community Alert will follow at 8pm.

An Post Rás - Excitement is building up for the sixth stage of the 61st International Cycling race which will pass through Horse & Jockey, Littleton and the Turnpike around mid-day on this Friday. Muintir na Tire have the Hall available and a free cup of tea and a biscuit will be given out to visitors and spectators. Members of the Sean Treacy Band will be present to add to the festive atmosphere and children from our local N.S. will be present with their teachers and parents. Teams from as far away as Australia, Azerbaijan, Canada and the U.S.A. along with European and Irish teams will be part of the 180 riders. Along with race officials, marshals and media it is estimated that over 500 people travel with the race. For many it will have been a long way and possibly their first time in coming to Tipperary so every show of support will be appreciated. All local clubs and organisations are requested to be present with flags and club colours. Fás and members of Littleton Development Association will help decorate the village with flags. Pre-race fancy dress cyclists are invited to recall days when the bicycle was king of the roads. The Hall will be open from 11am. We appeal for some homemade eatables, pastries or a few packets of biscuits to be shared on the morning. Walk - North Tipperary Vintage and Machinery Club will hold their annual Family Walk through Clover Bog on this Sunday, 26th May at 11.30am. Entry fee 10 euro. Refreshments afterwards in Corcoran’s Lounge. All proceeds towards Down Syndrome, Tipperary Branch. Your support appreciated.

The Late Brid Mullins - The death has taken place on May 10th of Brid Mullins (nee Cantwell), 5 Riverdale, Tulla Road, Ennis and late of Croom and Kilcock, beloved wife of the late Willie. Burial took place at Athlacca Cemetery, Co. Limerick after 10am Requiem Mass in St. Joseph’s Church, Ennis. Deeply mourned by her sons David and Lt. Col. Gerry, daughter Nuala, daughters-in-law, son-in-law, grandchildren, sisters, sisters-in-law, relatives and many friends. May she rest in peace.

The Late Patrick Croke - The death has taken place recently of Patrick Croke, Monadreen, Thurles and formerly Curraheen, Horse & Jockey. His remains were removed from Egan’s Funeral Parlour, Thurles to St. Peter in Chain Church Moycarkey following Requiem Mass, burial took place in St. Peter’s Cemetery, Moycarkey. Deeply mourned by his wife Breda, daughters Dolores, Martina and Sharon, sons Micheal and Brian, brothers Garreth and George, Joe and Oliver (deceased), sister Mary, and Margaret (deceased), sons-in-law, daughter-in-law, nieces, nephews, grandchildren, relatives and friends. May he rest in peace.

Illegal Dumping - Thanks to North Tipp. Co. Council Litter Warden Francis Casey who removed a large amount of household rubbish that had been dumped near Lacken Cross on the N8 layby. An appeal is made to all families along the N8 to remove any litter or rubbish before the An Post Ras on this Friday, 24th May.
