First Communion 2013 - Thirty children from the parish primary schools received their First Holy Communion at a special Mass in St. Michael’s Church on Saturday morning last.
Once again the whole ceremony was exceptionally beautiful. Mass was celebrated by Parish Priest Fr. John McGrath. The church looked wonderful, thanks to the efforts of Rose Byrne (flowers) and Rose Walzer (booklets and wall decoration). Thanks also to the efforts of sacristian, Maureen Hennessy and church cleaner Maureen Lanigan. The children were very well prepared by their teachers in the schools and by their parents. The ceremony was added to by the performances of the schools’ and local choirs. Of course, it was a great help that the rain which had been threatened stayed away. The girls and boys who received their First Holy Communion were from Poulacapple National School Alanah O’Dwyer and Sara Gleeson, from Kilvemnon N.S. Katie Egan, Chloe Gunn, Aoife O’Brien, Aoibhe MacDomhnaill, Caia Crowley, Mary Kate Cronin, Patrick Barron, Caoibhe McKay, Oran Kelly and Nathan Ryan, and from Mullinahone N.S. Kelly Brett, Katie Cashman, Megan Clarke, Sarah Denny, Amy Fallon, Natalie Gillman, Chloe Lowry, Niamh McKenna, Sadhbh McNamara, Elle O’Connell, Michaela Rochford, Jack Sheehan, Megan Scott, Daniel Stoica, Cathal Vaughan, Daniel Vaughan, Gracie Walsh and Lauren Cooper. Congratulations to everybody concerned on a wonderful day, especially to the many who helped out in the background.
Art Exhibition - An Art Exhibition by sister and brother Margaret and John Brennan, Gurteen, Mullinahone took place in Kilkenny Library, John’s Quay last weekend. Well done John and Margaret.

Congrats Martin - Congratulations to Martin Kehoe, Kilvemnon on winning 2 gold medals in the County finals U/14 in sprint and relay recently. Martin also won 2 silver medals in the U/16 age group for long jump and relay race. Martin does seem to have athletic talent.
G.A.A. Notes - Saturday evening next, May 25th in Fethard could well be make or break evening for Mullinahone’s senior hurlers. They will play Carrick Davins at 7.30pm as the second half of a two match programme. Swan and Killenaule will begin proceedings at 6pm. A win or draw with Davins would see us through to the South Tipp semi-finals, but defeat would make it extremely difficult for us to qualify. Supporters are encouraged to travel to Fethard early for a good hurling double bill and to cheer our lads on.
