Our Junior Footballers played their second game of the championship on Saturday evening last in Monroe where Newcastle were the opposition.
After a defeat against Ardfinnan the previous week this was a game we needed to win. Things did not go our way and along with some wasteful use of the ball Newcastle were victorious by 1-14 to 1-7. Team: was Richard Needham, Kieran Clancy, Colm Dunne, Eamon Needham, Aaron Robbie Meagher, Paddy Moroney (Captain), Shane Gorey, Conor Barry, Paul Horan, Nicky Kearney, Tony O’Brien, John Moroney, Brendan Gleeson, William O’Brien, Dermot Molloy. Subs: Darren Boland, Ciarán Mockler, Tommy Hayes, and Neil Gleeson.
With games remaining against Ballingarry and Clonmel Commercials we still have a very good opportunity to make the knock out stages of the South Junior Football.
On this Saturday evening our Junior Hurlers play Ballylooby/Castlegrace at 7.15pm in Ned Hall Park at The Bye Pass Clonmel.
When North Kerry team Crotta O’Neill’s won the Co. Kerry Final of the U/14 Hurling Feile na Gael on Monday, 6th May they had two Shanahan brothers on the team with Eamon at left half back and his younger brother Pauric at left half forward. Eamon and Pauric’s mother is the former Miss Helen Moroney of Ballynennan. We wish Crotta the best of luck when they travel to South Liberties of Limerick for the All-Ireland finals of Feile na Gael in early July.
