We remind all G.A.A. members that the membership fee for 2013 is now due and should be paid to Treasurer Micheál Broderick or Secretary Catherine Mockler before Sunday, 30th March. The fee is the same as the last few years at €50 for adults and €25 for members who were under 18 on 1st January 2013 and also for full time students. Only fully paid up members will be included in draws for Munster and All-Ireland Championship games.
St. Patrick’s Juvenile G.A.A. Club will host a Variety Concert in Drangan Community Hall at 8pm on this Friday night, 15th March. A great night of entertainment is guaranteed with local talent.
Due to the wet conditions our U/12 football game against Ballyporeen was postponed on Sunday last and will be played in Anner Park Cloneen on this Saturday, 16th March at 2pm.
Our U/12 team will be back in action on Monday, 18th March at 2pm in Duneske Cahir.
On Monday, 18th March our U/16 footballers Anner Gaels play Carrick Swans at 4pm in Fethard.
Our Junior hurlers began their year against Emly in Emly in the County Junior hurling league last Sunday morning. We came out on the wrong end of the result in a match played in poor conditions. The team that played the game was: John Moroney, Eamon Needham, Richie Needham, Damien Barry, Jason Hayes, Paddy Moroney, Dermot Molloy, Shane Gorey, Neil Gleeson, Nicky Kearney, Conor Barry, Robbie Meagher, Mark Slattery, Aaron Cronin and Mark Fitzgerald. We had to do without a number of players for this match including Tony and Willie O’Brien who buried their great grandmother on Sunday last. We extend our sympathy to the O’Brien family on their loss.
Our minor footballers were down to play Cahir in the County football league in Cloneen last Sunday. Although the match started, the referee called a halt to the game after ten minutes as the pitch was not in a playable condition.
The next game for our Minor footballers is next Saturday, 16th March against Clonmel Commercials in the Davin Park in Carrick on Suir at 3pm.
Mouthguards and the G.A.A. - The G.A.A. has made the use of mouth guards mandatory in all Gaelic football matches and training sessions for all age grades up to and including minor. We ask parents to ensure that all U/18 players have suitable mouth guards before they commence playing this year.
