Portroe Gathering - The dates have been set for one of the events of the year. Portroe will host a Gathering from Friday, 30th August to Sunday, 1st September. The events being planned include a homecoming in Portroe Hall, local business displays and music events in Portroe on the Friday night, village and Millenium Cross walks on Saturday followed by a history talk in Killoran and social events throught the parish. Sunday will see a family fun day and music event in GarryKennedy. If you have family members abroad, pass on the word that Portroe in Gathering in 2013.
Portroe Tidy Towns - The A.G.M. will take place on Monday, 19th March at 8.30pm in the local hall. It is hoped to see a lot of new members turn up on the night to help out during the year. There is no doubt that the Portroe is one of the prettiest villages you could come across but it takes a lot of hard work during the Spring & Summer to get it looking that way. So even if you can’t make the meeting it is time now to dust off the gardening tools and clean up the old paint brushes for the period ahead of us. Looking forward to seeing you there.
St Patrick’s Day Parade - The Juvenile and Camogie Clubs are hoping to take part in this year’s Parade in Nenagh. This decision is based on having enough numbers on the day. Over 60’s Club - Our Easter outing to the monastery in Roscrea will take place on Saturday, March 24th. Bus will leave Portroe cross at 1pm, with confession and Mass in the Abbey and evening tea to follow. We will return 5.30 (approx). GAA Club Timber Auction - Please note that the Timber Auction and Raffle will now be held on Sunday, 7 April. Lines are on sale for 1st prize of a Tractor Trailor load of timber and 2nd prize of a Twin Wheel Car Load of Timber and lines can be bought from players/committee members. Your support is greatly appreciated.
Presentation - The Juvenile Club held their Presentation Night in the clubhouse recently. The following were the winners. Most Improved U/12 Conor O’Brien, Most Improved U/14 John Bray, Most Improved U/16 Michael O’Mahony. The ‘Player Of The Year’ was won by David Lumbroso. Congratulations to all the winners.
