Christmas Market
Mayor John Kennedy extended his congratulations to Nicky Vassey and Thurles Chamber of Commerce on the running of the year successful Christmas market which was a great hit in the town. Cllr David Doran described it as being a very positive event and said that the council should get involved in it in 2012.
Peake Villa
Councillor Jim Ryan lauded the work being undertaken on a weekly basis by Peake Villa FC and said that they are catering for kids from 6 years of age right up to adults. He added that the council should do all in their power to assist the club with their up-coming development. Cllr Michael Cleary supported Cllr Ryan on this.
Retiring Principal
Mayor John Kennedy paid tribute to the retiring Principal of Colaiste Mhuire, Fiona O’Sullivan, and thanked her for her thirteen years as head of the school. She showed great leadership and vision in that time, he said.
