Thomastown National School - Principal Martina O’Keeffe will retire this year after 35 years teaching in the school. A retirement celebration will be held on Wednesday, June 22nd to mark the occasion. The evening will begin with a special Mass at 7.30 p.m. in Kilfeacle church followed by refreshments in the Community centre. All pupils both past and present, parents, friends and parishioners are invited to attend this special occasion.

Juvenile G.A.A. - The County Games Development Committee will run a super camp in Golden from Mon. 18th to Wed. 20th July from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. daily. County coaches will conduct the camp. Camp is for 13-16 year olds and costs 40 euro. Each participant will receive a jersey. Application forms available from Tom O’Donnell. Queen of the Suir Festival News - Our Festival starts this coming Wednesday going straight through to Sunday. All roads lead to our Health Seminar on Wednesday in the Community Hall at 8.30 p.m. with Ann Darcy of Tipp Mid west Community Radio. Ann will do a two hour talk on digestion and its links to food, memory, concentration, behaviour patterns and a range of other health issues in all age groups. The night will include a demonstration and a question and answer section. There will also be refreshments at the break. Don’t forget our Monster Festival bingo on Thursday night. Books usual price. On Friday night the Festival Fashion Show takes to the stage at 8.30 p.m. Admission just 10 euro with champagne and chocolate fountain reception at 8 p.m. Please support our local celebrities and 16 lovely queens. Saturday and our Kiddies and teenage festival with Beat on the island, wife carrying competition, raffle and Miss Teenage 2011. Dancing at Bridge House Marquee at 11 p.m. with BBQ. Don’t forget Sports and Family day on Sunday with Festival dance on Sunday night in the Community Hall at 11 p.m. The 2011 Queen will be announced at 12.30 a.m. This promises to be a great festival and one definitely not to be missed.
