Cloughjordan Eco village is participating in Ireland’s first Open Doors Days event, which takes place from November 8 to 10. Up to 10 houses in Cloughjordan Eco village will be open over the weekend.

During Open Doors Days the public can visit pioneering low energy homes and buildings throughout Ireland.

Tipperary Energy Agency is supporting the campaign through its SustainCo project, which aims to raise awareness and support development of near zero energy buildings. Visitors will receive information about SustainCo Toolkits which will be launched at the event. These toolkits give practical information to self-builders and renovators on all aspects on how to build or retrofit to the best possible energy standards. The toolkit includes guides on insulation, building fabric, air tightness, lighting and electricity.

Alexandra Hamilton, Energy Engineer at Tipperary Energy Agency said “The Open Doors Days event is relevant to anyone seeking to build or retrofit to a high energy standard. It will be an excellent opportunity for people to see finished projects firsthand, talk to the homeowner and go home with the toolkits to help them with their retrofitting or building project”.
