Changes in Festival Programme - Please note that there are two changes to the Festival Programme. The first change is the Redwood Castle Tours is changed to Friday, 21st June. Tours commencing at 2.30 and 4pm. Transport: Assemble in Lorrha at 2.10 or 3.40 for car pooling or arrive at the Castle in time for either tour. Admission: €7.
The second change is the Ecumenical Service has now changed to Monday, 24th June. The venue is the Church of Ireland, Lorrha, and the time is 8pm.
There are so many events taking place that it is not possible to mention them all here so do pick up a copy of the programme and see the variety of events on offer over six days. You will be sure to find at least one event that will suit you or you can view the programme on the parish web site www.lorrhadorrha.ie under Local Info.
Launch Of The Lorrha & Dorrha Heritage Festival - Celebrating The Gathering 2013, St. Ruadhan’s Active Retirement Association will host the launch of the Festival on Wednesday, 19th June in St. Ruadhan’s Community Hall, Lorrha. This event will commence with a lunch at 1pm and pre-booking is required if wishing to attend on mobile (087) 761 3458. The cost of the 3 course lunch is €10 per head. At approximately 2.30pm the Festival will be launched officially by Seamus King and Tony Reddin and this part of the function is open to all who wish to attend. Following the launch, the afternoon continues with dancing to approximately 6pm, music provided by Pat & Richie. We look forward to seeing you all there.
St. Ruadhan’s Active Retirement Association - There is no meeting this week, Wednesday, 12th June. Our last get together before our summer break is on Wednesday, 19th June, when we will be having lunch followed by a social from 1pm to approximately 6pm. Anáil Sacred Silence and Sounds of Lorrha - CD will be launched in Lorrha on 23rd June during the Gathering Heritage Festival that takes place between the 19th and 24th June. Among the performers will be Noirin Ni Riain and Sionna vocal ensemble. The ‘silent’ CD project started as a conversation about how to enhance the emotional well-being of children within the parish of Lorrha. The Anáil CD was developed by a small enthusiastic community group from the parish of Lorrha with the assistance of a clinical psychologist, a sound specialist and an artist. Anáil consists of 3 sound recordings made in the early hours of the morning in the ancient ruins of the Abbeys of Lorrha. For more information see www.silencefromlorrha.weebly.com
