Whist Drive - The next Whist Drive on Monday night, 24th June will be for Fr. Paul Horan’s Foreign Mission.

CLCG Naomh Pádraig - Pride of place this week must go to the U/11 hurlers of Drangan N. S. who defeated Leugh N.S. by 10-01 to 1-0 in the Co. final of the primary Schools 7-a-side hurling played in Semple Stadium Thurles on Thursday last. Team was; Luke Butler, Cian Crannitch, Éabha Fitzgerald, Angus McDonald (Captain), Áine Ryan, Sorcha Ivors, Jamie Brett, Aidan Fitzgerald, Eoghan Fitzgerald, Jessica Strappe. Team Manager was Charlene Cooney with help from Lottie Lawless, Conor Duggan and Eoin Ryan. ‘Man of the Match’ was the second youngest player on the Drangan team, Aidan Fitzgerald. We would like to thank teacher Charlene Cooney for the work she has done for hurling, music and several other activities during her time in Drangan School. We wish Charlene well in her new post in Drom National School outside Thurles.

Last weekend was a busy one for Niamh Keane of Cappagh Cloneen. On Saturday, Niamh travelled to Birr where she helped Tipperary U/14 Ladies Footballers to victory over Leitrim in the All-Ireland Semi-final. On Sunday Niamh was in The Gaelic Grounds in Limerick lining out with the Tipperary Primary Schools Camogie team against Limerick. Niamh is the third generation of Keanes to wear the Blue and Gold. We wish Niamh and her team mates the best of luck in the U/14 Ladies Football All-Ireland Final.

Our junior hurlers played their second game of the championship last Saturday night when they took on Clonmel Óg in Fethard. In what was a tight game throughout our lads just about held out in the end for a 3 point win on a scoreline of 3-09 to 1-12. Team on the night was John Moroney, Kieran Clancy, Colm Dunne, Paddy Moroney, Nicky Kearney, Tony O’Brien, Dermot Molloy (Captain), Shane Gorey, Conor Barry, Robbie Meagher, Aaron Cronin, Neil Gleeson, Brendan Gleeson, Robbie McCormack, Richard Needham. Subs: Willie O’Brien, Eamon Needham, Darren Boland, Ciarán Mockler.

The Annual St. Patrick’s Kellogs Summer Camp will be held in Cloneen from Monday 8th July to Friday 12th July. Boys and Girls aged 6 or over are welcome to attend for a week of Hurling, Gaelic Football, Ladies Football and Camogie. Registration forms have been distributed through the schools in Cloneen and Drangan. You may also book on line @ Kellogs GAA Cul Camps.ie.

U/16 Hurling Tournament Mary Moroney Cup, The Toohey Family of Moneygall have kindly donated a Cup to St. Patrick’s G.A.A. Club in memory of their sister the late Mary Moroney (nee Toohey) R.I.P. A tournament will be played for this cup in Anner Park Cloneen on this Saturday, 15th June. In the semi-finals our local team Anner Gaels (St. Patrick’s/Fethard) will play Moneygall at 11am and Gortnahoe/Glengoole will play Silvermines at 12 noon.

The losing semi-finalists will play the Shield Final at 1.30pm and the winners will play for the Mary Moroney Cup at 2.30pm. Paddy Ivors and Philly Keane will referee the games.
