The Late Mrs. Kathleen Stanley - The death occurred on Thursday, 28th March at the Regional Hospital, Tullamore of Kathleen (Kitty) Stanley, (nee Cantwell) of Coolfin, Rathdowney.

She had suffered ill health for a number of years in acceptance and dignity. Kitty was the most gentle and kind lady ever known. She was always happy and so friendly and caring to everybody. She loved her home and her family, when her health failed they cared for her in her home especially her son Alfred. Kitty is sadly mourned by her husband Har, her loving family Jean, Violet, Robert, Alfred and Adrian, sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, grandchildren, great grandchildren, her sister Florrie, brother Josie, sister-in-law Violet, nephews, nieces, relatives, friends and all her neighbours and everyone who knew Kitty. Reposing was at her residence. On Saturday, 30th March removal took place to St. Andrew’s Church, Rathdowney. Funeral Service was conducted by Archdeacon John Murray followed by burial to Killermogh Churchyard. Large crowds attended to say a sad farewell to Kitty. May she rest in peace.

Easter - We had a beautiful celebration of the feast of Easter in the Church of the Holy Trinity. From Holy Thursday, Good Friday and Easter Saturday night we had a packed church with very beautiful ceremonies. Sincere thanks to our Parish Priest, Fr. Martin Delaney for his endeavours in organising the ceremonies with such meaningful sincerity. On Easter Sunday morning Holy Mass was celebrated to complete the Easter Vigil.

C.Y.M.S. - After years of closure in Rathdowney has re-opened. This is wonderful news for the town. Always a snooker and billiard hall and the main sports venue for many great players. It was the scene of some great games and competitions. It was also the place where devoted and dedicated members ran the hall on oiled wheels. Other attractions and the lack of good members saw the C.Y.M.S. go down and eventually close, but now 2013 has brought the good news and long may it last.

Bingo - Every Tuesday night we have Bingo in the Community Centre, Rathdowney at 8.30 p.m. Great prizes and raffle. Do come along and bring your friends, a great night is assured.
