News of the death last weekend of Dave Carter, Project Worker with North Tipperary LEADER Partnership (NTLP) was met with deep shock and great sadness by his many friends and colleagues at NTLP and by all those who had the privilege of knowing him through his work over many years in Roscrea and more recently throughout the county.

Dave worked with individuals and groups in Roscrea for many years co-ordinating the delivery of courses such as wood turning, stone carving and creative arts. A large part of his work involved the provision of one to one support to individuals, some of whom had worked with him over many years. Of particular significance was Dave’s success in engaging men to become involved in both group and individual work. In 2010 he was appointed Project Worker with the Local Community Development Programme delivered by NTLP throughout North Tipperary. Since that time he had become involved with groups throughout the County in the delivery of programmes such as the Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP) with Aras Follain, as well as working with the Boxing Clubs in Roscrea and Nenagh, the HSE, the VEC and Tipperary Regional Youth Services, to mention but a few. In this role Dave had flourished and had made major in-roads in the provision and delivery of social inclusion to parts of the County not served by this programme heretofore.

Full appreciation in this week’s Tipperary Star.
