Chernobyl Children Say Goodbye to Tipperary

The Friends of the Children of Chernobyl (Thurles) said goodbye to the Children who visited the town and area during the Month of July. It was a very sad time at Dublin Airport and the tears were evident from the Children and the host families.

The Friends of the Children of Chernobyl (Thurles) said goodbye to the Children who visited the town and area during the Month of July. It was a very sad time at Dublin Airport and the tears were evident from the Children and the host families.

The committee would like to thank all the people who made the visit so very successful.

We thank the staff at the Mall Dental practice, the staff at Jennings Opticians, the Management and staff of the Premier Hall, the Management and Staff of Hugh Ryans Chemist, Thurles Sarsfields, Thurles Road Warriors, Thurles Lions Club, and all the businesses who supported the programme.

We thank Tommy Kavanagh for his unstinting support every year.

Thanks to all the people of the Town and surrounding area who continues to support us in our fundraising efforts every year.

The committee offers grateful thanks to the Host Families, in Moyne, Thurles, Templetuohy, Littleton, Killenaule, Callan, Ballingarry and Clonoulty, who gave their homes and hearts to the Children, and without whom we could not continue.

If I have missed thanking anyone I am sorry, but you are in my prayers.

The Thurles Group supports medical projects, eight schools, two halfway houses, and a community centre in Belarus.

The problems in Belarus do not go away, the area where the children live is still contaminated with radiation.

If you would like to help us in any way by becoming a host family please contact Ann on (0504) 44682, Moira on (0504) 22114, Donal on (052) 9156482, or Mary on (052) 9154345, or if you would like to make a donation our A/C No. 40890845 is with the Bank of Ireland, Liberty Square.

Thank you all.
