Nenagh Farmers Market

Nenagh Farmers market takes place every Saturday from 10.a.m. till late and the Christmas market will be held on Wednesday December 22nd. The Fran O Brien book stall has all four of her books now available. All proceeds are donated to the Laura Lynn Childrens Hospice. Fruit and Nut Bakes has a selection of home baked breads, Cakes etc etc. Gillinas Handknits brings you Shrugs, Balero Wraps, Scarves, Bags and Baby sets as well as home made Jams and Marmalades etc etc. James O Brien of Garranmore Gardens provides all your vegetable needs as well as Holly , Christmas Trees etc. Tea 4 you provide high quality loose leaf tea. Vickie and Ollie have a selection of continental breads and they supply the Killeen range of Cows Milk Gouda and Goats Cheese. A well as award winning Mossfield Cheese. The Real Olive Co. provide a wide range of meditteranian Food including olives, Pesto Olive Oil, garlic, chillies and lots more. Michael Seymour has Organic Beef and Lamb from his own farm. Beef hung for 21 days. Lamb Burgers, lamb and beef Sausages.

Nenagh Country Market

Nenagh Country Market will take place each Friday from 8.00am - 1.30pm in The New Institute in the run up to Christmas. The final Market before Christmas will take place on Thursday 23rd December. Orders for now been taken for Christmas Cakes, Puddings, Mince Pies, Turkeys and Table Arrangements.

Jewellery exhibition at Nenagh Library

Maureen Treacy of Silvermines and Marie Moran of Ballinaclough are holding an exhibition of handmade glassbeaded jewellery at Nenagh Library for the month of December. It is an opportunity for people to purchase some unique Christmas presents.

Nenagh Vocational School News

Trip to the Sarah Baker Cookery School: On Tuesday 23rd November Transition Year students went on a field trip to Cloughjordan. They were accompanied by Ms. Kearney and Ms. Tobin. They began their morning with a visit to the community farm in Cloughjordan where they learned about managing a farm. From the variety of fresh produce grown there, students chose some vegetables which they used to prepare and cook a beautiful homemade vegetable soup and pork stir fry. The students would like to thank Farm Manager Lily De Sylva and Sarah Baker for allowing them to participate in such an enjoyable experience.

Visit to NUI Maynooth’s Open Day: On Friday 26th November 2010 Nenagh Vocational school’s Transition Year students, accompanied by Guidance Counsellor Ms. Maharaj and English Teacher Ms. Chawke, travelled to ‘Ireland’s University Town’ NUI Maynooth, for its Open Day. Despite the bitter cold, the students enjoyed a look at the various innovative degree programmes on offer. Transition Year is a time when students can explore their interests and decide on what subjects to take in the senior cycle. Further education is becoming the standard that students need to aspire to, especially in today’s knowledge driven economy. The Open Day at NUI Maynooth provided a great opportunity for the students to talk to tutors and university students, and see how university life is lived. Nenagh College of Further Education: C. O’Keeffe and A. Melley were among twenty five adult education teachers working in North Tipperary VEC who attended a support event on Saturday, 20th November. The event provided an opportunity for staff to share best practice and professional approaches to adult teaching and learning.

Camogie: The camogie team took part in a blitz last Friday. They played exceptionally well and reached the finals. Ms. Devitt (Manager) and Ms. O’Gorman travelled with them.

Nenagh Toastmasters

Nenagh Toastmasters met on Tuesday, 30th of November, in the Abbey Court Hotel, Nenagh. Our president Jim McGuire opened the meeting with his usual words of wisdom. Our toastmaster for the evening was Morgan Ryan who carried us through the proceedings with effectiveness and efficiency. Topics master was Mary Flannery who treated us to a challenging set of topics as usual. General evaluator was Mary Pheato who offered some useful hints. Joe Ryan delivered and excellent advanced speech evaluated by John Spillane. Nick Theato also delivered an interesting advanced speech.

Christmas Day Run

The annual Christmas Day fun run for charity in Nenagh organised by Tony Hassett will take place once again this year. Over the last number of years the event has raised thousands of euro for charity and this year’s recipients will once again be the Nenagh Day Care Centre.

Parent & Toddler Group

The Nenagh Parent & Toddler Group extends an invitation to parents/minders and their children to go along to the new Nenagh Arts Centre each Wednesday from 10am to 12 noon. There, with a cuppa and a chat, an excellent opportunity is provided to meet new people and for children to interact with others. Tipp Friends of Animals Charity Shop

Tipperary Friends of Animals SPCA began a new venture in Nenagh recently. The group opened a charity shop in Friar Street to raise funds for the rescue of mistreated and neglected animals. There is a great selection of clothing, accessories, books, bric a brac and furniture already, and would welcome donations of similar items. The shop will be open every Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

Art Exhibition at Nenagh Heritage Centre

A colourful collection of oils, abstract art and mixed media by artists Jackie Levey & Joanna Alexander is currently on display at Nenagh Heritage Centre. Nenagh Camera Club

All amateur photographers and prospective photographers, wondering what to do this winter? Why not come along and join the Nenagh Camera Club to explore and develop your interest in photography. Meetings every second Wednesday evening at 8pm in the Town Hall. A varied programme organised for the coming weeks. An outdoor photoshoot has been arranged for this Wednesday evening, weather permitting. All interested parties welcome to come along.
